Ferrari's first fully electric car, the Luce, has been approved for sale in Australia. The four door, five seat Ferrari has appeared on the federal government's Register of Approved Vehicles, the step that clears a new model to be sold here, and Ferrari Australasia has already confirmed its local price: $991,446 plus on road costs. That puts it close to $1 million before options, stamp duty and registration, and among the most expensive electric cars ever offered in Australia. Here is everything you need to know.

Quick answer: The Ferrari Luce is a four motor electric Ferrari with up to 1,050cv (about 772kW), 0 to 100km/h in 2.5 seconds and more than 530km of range. It costs $991,446 plus on road costs in Australia, and first local deliveries are due in the fourth quarter of 2027. Early production has reportedly sold out, so most buyers will be joining a waiting list.

Our take in one line: the Luce is a bold, technically brilliant Ferrari that will split opinion on its looks, and for Australian buyers the real question is not the price but how long the wait will be.

Price and timing in Australia

  • Price: $991,446 plus on road costs, confirmed by Ferrari Australasia
  • Approval: now listed on the Register of Approved Vehicles, so it can legally be sold here
  • First Australian deliveries: fourth quarter of 2027
  • Europe: from €550,000

Add options, stamp duty and registration and most Australian Luce buyers will pay well over $1 million drive away. Our NSW, VIC and QLD drive away estimate is at the end of this article.

What is the Ferrari Luce?

Ferrari revealed the Luce in Rome on 25 May 2026. It is the second Ferrari with four doors, after the Purosangue, and the first ever Ferrari with five seats, which the electric layout makes possible. It sits alongside Ferrari's petrol and hybrid models rather than replacing them.

The design was created with Sir Jony Ive and Marc Newson, the former Apple design team now working as the creative collective LoveFrom, together with Ferrari's own design centre. The shape is built around a large, shell like glass house, with floating wings at the front and rear for aerodynamics. Ferrari says it has the lowest drag of any Ferrari ever, helped by active air shutters and a front end that drops 10mm at cruising speed.

Specs: power, speed and range

  • Motors: four, one per wheel. Each rear motor makes 310kW and 355Nm, each front motor 105kW and 140Nm
  • Maximum power: 1,050cv (about 772kW), according to Ferrari
  • 0 to 100km/h: 2.5 seconds
  • 0 to 200km/h: 6.8 seconds
  • Top speed: more than 310km/h
  • Kerb weight: 2,260kg
  • Battery: 122kWh (gross), 800 volt system, built in Maranello
  • Range: more than 530km
  • DC fast charging: up to 350kW, adding 70kWh in about 20 minutes. A built in booster allows up to 150kW on older 400 volt chargers
  • AC charging: up to 22kW

A dial on the steering wheel called the e-Manettino lets the driver choose how much power is on tap. Range mode limits output to 320kW and runs mostly in rear wheel drive. Tour mode allows 460kW with permanent all wheel drive. Performance mode unlocks 725kW and the full 310km/h top speed, and Launch Control adds an extra boost from the battery. The front motors can disconnect completely to save energy.

The Luce also has active suspension derived from the F80 hypercar and rear wheel steering. Instead of a fake engine soundtrack, it amplifies real vibration from the electric axles to give the driver audio feedback when accelerating.

Inside the Luce

The cabin mixes physical buttons, switches and dials with digital displays, rather than putting everything on one big touchscreen. The driver faces a binnacle of round digital gauges, and the steering wheel carries both the familiar five position Manettino and the new three position e-Manettino.

There are three seats across the back, a first for Ferrari, with their own climate controls. Ferrari says the cabin is the most spacious and comfortable it has ever built.

Warranty and servicing

The Luce gets a dedicated 8 year warranty covering key electric powertrain parts, including the battery. It is also covered by Ferrari's seven year maintenance program, which includes routine servicing at 20,000km or yearly intervals.

Should you wait for one?

It makes sense if: you are an existing Ferrari owner who wants the fastest, most practical Ferrari yet, you can wait until late 2027, and the looks win you over in person.

Look elsewhere if: you want an electric performance car sooner, or for a fraction of the price. Fast electric SUVs and sedans from Porsche, Mercedes-AMG, Audi and BMW are on sale now.

Drive away price estimate

An estimate for a private buyer. Pick your state.

List price$991,446
Luxury Car Tax (already in the list price)$207,643
Stamp duty (NSW)$48,775
Rego and CTP, 12 months$1,000
Dealer delivery (typical)$2,000
Drive away, about$1,043,200

Drive away by state: NSW $1,043,200, VIC $1,036,200, QLD $1,033,900.

Why a new car loses value so fast: about $51,775 of the drive away price is stamp duty, rego, CTP and dealer delivery. You never get that back when you sell, because the next owner pays their own. GST and any Luxury Car Tax are built into the list price, so they fade with the car's value over the years rather than vanishing on day one. The rest of the drop comes from age, kilometres and demand.

Estimates only, using 2026-27 rates. Rego and CTP depend on the car's weight, your insurer and postcode, and dealer delivery varies (some brands sell at one national drive away price). Ask the dealer for a written drive away quote.
